The Town Hall: Effective Monday, 4/5/2021, the Town of Dalton will re-open the Town Hall, to the public. Please see Town of Dalton Website for Departmental Information.
The Senior Center will remain closed.
The Memorial Day Parade has canceled the Parade but the Dalton American Legion my do something in their parking Lot.
Open Meeting Law Ruling
The Division of Open Government (DOG) recently issued a determination that it is a violation of the Open Meeting Law (OML) for the chair of a public body to fail at the start of a meeting to identify by name the members of a board who are
attending remotely (see the decision at OML 2020-138.)
The OML regulations state “[a]t the start of the meeting, the chair shall announce the name of any member who will be participating remotely. This information shall also be recorded in the meeting minutes.” 940 CMR 29.10(7)(b). Failure to announce the name of any member participating remotely is a violation of the law.
The Town of Dalton Board of Registrars would like to notify the voters that for the 2021 Annual Town Election voters will be allowed to vote early/absentee voting by mail and in- person.
If you desire to vote by mail please print, fill out, and sign the application that can be found on the Town of Dalton website at www.dalton-ma.gov and send it to, or drop it off to the Town Clerk, 462 Main Street, Dalton, Massachusetts 01226. You can also call the Town Clerk’s office at 413-684-6111 Ext. 14 or 15 to request an application.
Early Voting in person will be held in the office of the Town Clerk, 462 Main Street, and beginning on Monday, April 26, 2021 through Thursday, April 29, 2021 and on Monday, May 3, 2021 through Wednesday, May 5, 2021. The hours of early voting in person will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Note also the polling hours for the official election day at the CRA on Monday, May 10, 2021 will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Town of Dalton, Cemetery Dept. requests that all winter decorations
placed on cemetery lots in the Dalton Cemeteries be removed by April 15, 2021 including containers.
All other decorations still in place after April 15, 2021 shall be subject to removal and discarded by the Department. Summer decorations may be placed on cemetery lots after May 15, 2021.
Families are asked to stop by the Cemetery office to determine if any non-conforming items (mementos) are at the Cemetery Office. Residents may call the office at 684-6117, if they have any questions.

MESSAGE FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
Police Department is now open to the Public
The Dalton police Department lobby is now open to the public. Please feel free to stop in and see an Officer. Social Distancing and mask are required and only two (2) people allowed in the lobby at a time.
Processing of Firearm Permit
Firearm permits are processed between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. by appointment only. Please call 413-684-0300 to schedule your appointment. No walk-ins are being accepted at this time. A check or money order for $100.00 made payable to the Town of Dalton. Renewals over the age of 70 are free.
The Dalton Library is now open 12:00 P.M. -5:00 P.M. on Monday,
Thursday and Friday; 10:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, and 12:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday. Anyone in a high-risk population may schedule a time in the AM to come in by themselves with no question asked. Lobby pick-up continues for anyone who would rather not enter the building.
