Agenda: | Dalton Beautification Commission
Agenda
Thursday 7 September 2017
1. Secretary’s Report.
2. New requirement to appoint two additional officers to DBC: Treasurer and Vice-chairperson, per Town clerk, Deb Merry. Description of responsibilities for these officers to be discussed/decided by current DBC membership, as guidelines unavailable. Please consider volunteering for these open positions.
3. Gardens are the most beautiful ever thanks to DBC volunteers, Mother Nature, soil from Holiday Farm and DVFD. Baskets are lovely as well, though now [late summer] seem a bit crowded. Perhaps 6-7 plants in each basket next year, rather than 9? The South street, mini, is gorgeous, thanks to Peter, with early summer help from Mary and Bill. Peter looking for additional help for next year or someone else to be in charge of south street, as two trips to Dalton per week is a hardship. Ideas?
4. Begin planning for garden design for spring 2018. Jean and Tracy have Ideas for the 707 Site, based upon current perennial placement and open space there' Jean and Tracy suggest a diagram to refer to for help next year. Tracy has been keeping plant descriptive insert/color sticks, for planning for next year as well.
5. Bob Merry has taken photos, which will be helpful for median garden design, as well as advertisement of DBC for the community, Town Report etc. Other ideas?
6. Library baskets are the best ever, all season long. Thanks Maureen for being in charge of that site' I requested a new hose for the library several times, most recently earlier this week.
7. When to winterize / remove median/707 plantings, depending upon extended good weather. If bridge baskets begin to deteriorate, should we remove early? New basket liners 2018?
8. If DBC's September agenda is too crowded, we can continue discussion at DBC's October business meeting, Thursday 5 October.
