On Jan 17, 2024 10:08 AM EST Grace Bannasch changed a meeting of Recycling/Solid Waste Committee as follows:
Topics: 1. Welcome 2. Approval of Minutes – April 18, 2023 meeting 3. Old Business – debrief on trash bag distribution 4. Need for new Recycling Coordinator – ideas? 5. Styrofoam collection – should we schedule one? 6. Discussion of battery recycling – lithium ion flammability 7. Other Action Items from 3/29/22 Meeting A – Gary will contact Triple T (a composting company), possibly others, re. setting up a school recycling program. Gary will get the specifics and send out an email with his findings and will arrange a meeting with the school principal. Gary did contact Amy Donavan but has not heard back yet. Amy is with the Franklin County Waste Management District and focuses on school programs. The primary question at this point is cost. ON GOING B - Gary will call NLR (hazardous waste company) to come get batteries. ON GOING C – A complaint was received regarding the textile box placement on Lot O-32. The location results in auto headlamps to frequently shine into an adjacent residence. The Select Board has decided to move it to the Highway Department but will first consult with Tim Hunting (Highway Dept. Superintendent) as to the exact location. Gary will follow-up with the SB and will remind them that it must be visible from the road. ON-GOING D – BAG DISTRIBUTION 1) - Reminders a) new members: please stop by the Town Hall to pick up a shed key. b) Pop-up canopy is in the shed in case of rain. c) LTS stickers through 6/30/23 are $10 and through 6/30/24 are $20. d) Don’t leave a lot of cash in shed. Contact Meryl if more than $200 on site to pick up cash. e) Remember to pick up any changes in occupancy data – especially for rentals. 2) - Meryl will get updated distribution book and new LTS stickers down to the shed before distribution begins. 3) – 4/26 and 5/6 distribution dates will be removed from the schedule. Gail will update the website and Gary will contact Janice Grey regarding the town newsletter. 4) – Steve will pick up new recycle bins from Greenfield. 5) – Steve, with Marla’s help, will bring bag boxes to the Town Hall for the Annual Town Meeting on 6/3. 6) – Gary will update the book (no small task – thank you Gary!) before 4/29. Meryl will bring it to him on 4/25.to
