To Members of the Board,
We initiated this change order when we discovered that the interior finish on the new
windows was not specified; the finish designation in the specification applied only to the
exterior. The windows would have been supplied with unfinished pine interiors and
would have needed to be painted in the field. These window interiors need to be finished
for a complete job. Knowing that a factory finish is more long-lasting, and that field
finishing would be more expensive, we asked the Contractor to propose a change to a
factory-finished interior.
The proposal is for the cost of the factory finish only, plus modest increased fees for
overhead, profit and bond. There is no time extension for this change.
We have reviewed these charges and find that they are fair and equitable.
