COVID-19 Update

As of March 16th, all Barre Town Buildings have been closed to the public and all staff continue to report in to assist the public with their needs through phone, email, and mail.  The Emergency Management Team will continue to meet and review the most current information available in order to keep Town Officials informed and provide information to the public.  We will continue to post updates on this Facebook page, the Town’s website, MyTownGovernment.org/01005, and the Barre Cable Access Station.  -Heather M. Budrewicz, Interim Town Administrator

Additional updates relative to COVID-19 are as follows:

Local State of Emergency.  The Board of Selectmen held a regularly scheduled meeting last night and declared a local state of emergency as a result of COVID-19.  

Annual Town Election.  At this time, the Annual Local Election scheduled for Monday, April 6th is still on.  We are working with all involved to take as many precautions as possible to keep everyone safe.  Our team will continue to monitor the situation closely, as well as active pending legislation, and the Board of Selectmen has tentatively scheduled a Board meeting for Monday, March 30th at 7:00 pm to review further. 

Today is the last day to vote.  Anyone wishing to register can do so by going online at https://www.sec.state.ma.us/ovr/ or can contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 978-355-2504 x 128.

Seniors.  The Council on Aging is continuing to provide Meals on Wheels and conducting phone wellness checks.  The COA is closed to the public and is currently being staffed to handle phone calls and emails.  If anyone has a need that is not being met, or has someone they are concerned about, please reach out to Eileen, our COA Director, at (774)- 764-8702.

Woods Memorial Library.  The Woods Memorial Library has issued a letter updating the public about an extension on due dates for books and possible services that may be available. 

Transfer Station.  The Transfer station will be closed today, March 17th, and will open on Saturday, March 21st for limited operations to include trash and recycling only. 

Upcoming Meetings.  Please stay tuned to Mytowngovernment.org/01005 for the most up-to-date information on meetings.  Please note that meetings that are held by the Town will likely be held in accordance with the Governor’s Order suspending Open Meeting Laws, and will have public comment suspended for the meeting.  https://www.mass.gov/doc/open-meeting-law-order-march-12-2020/download

In addition, for those meetings that must be held, the meeting organizers have the option to hold the meeting in part or whole virtually.  We will work to try to give everyone advance notice of when this will happen and encourage everyone to watch meetings on www.youtube.com/BCTVBarreMA.
