ANNOUNCEMENTS:
A Donation Fund has been set up at North Brookfield Savings Bank for the Thompson Family, who lost their barn and more than 100 animals to a fire over the weekend. Donations can be made at bank branches or by mailing a check made out to The Thompson Fund to 9 Gilbert St., North Brookfield, MA 01535. More information can be found at www.rebuildthompsonsbarn.org.
Brush Burning: Beginning Jan. 15, permits for the outdoor burning of brush and forestry debris will be available. Burning is allowed only between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. To obtain a permit call the dispatch office at 508-867-1066 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. on the day you want to burn.
The debt exclusion vote for the new Police Station will be held Monday, Feb. 10, 2014. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The last day to register to vote for this election will be Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014. Absentee ballots are now available.
Parking Ban: The Town's winter parking ban is effect through April 1st. The ban is in effect from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Vehicles that violate the winter parking ban may be ticketed by the police and receive a $15 fine. Vehicles that directly hamper snow removal efforts will be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.
Senior and Veteran Tax Work-Off applications are available at the Selectmen’s Office. This program allows qualified residents to earn up to $500 off their property tax bill. For more information, see Administrative Assistant Jennifer Grybowski at jgrybowski@brookfieldma.us or 508-867-2930 X10.
Brookfield Ecumenical Food Pantry: is always looking for your help in the form of cash or donations.  Please contact either Louise Woodard at 508-867-3891 or Pauline Walker at 508-867-2281 to help your neighbors.  The Food Pantry is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 9:30 to 11 am.
